    An outrageous local tradition that sends up the year’s events and celebrities, harking back to the days when the Grove was a haven for intellectuals and eccentrics. The party climaxes with a concert and dance in Peacock Park.

  • 6. Coconut Grove Arts Festival

    Perhaps Greater Miami’s best such festival, attracting throngs of visitors who come to eat, drink, listen to concerts in Peacock Park, and browse among 300 arts and crafts booths.

  • 7. Miami-Bahamas Goombay Festival

    A Bahamian party that includes a parade, Island food, Caribbean music, and junkanoo dancers parading through the streets. It claims to be the biggest African-American heritage festival in the US.

  • 8. Miami International Orchid Show

    Florida has become one of the world centers for the orchid industry. More than half a million blooms are displayed at this show.

  • 9. Festival of Haitian Arts

    This celebration of Haitian art takes place at the Grove Expo Center. See sculptures, paintings, ceramics, and hand-beaded Voodoo flags.

  • 10. Columbus Day Regatta

    Some 600 sailboats run this race.
